Wow 210 pages of old iron to look at. I skimmed through all 210 in the last couple of days and didn't see one of these so I thought I'd register and post up a pic or 2. The bike is a 1980 Kawasaki KZ1000 G-1 aka a Z-1 Classic. This was the first bike they offered with fuel injection and was only made for one year. Production was 3201 units. Unlike most of these you see today it still has the working FI still attached. The bike is all stock with the exception of tires, grips and of course battery. It isn't a museum piece but it is a nice original survivor. I've owned it for a few years and still ride it on occasion. It sat all winter and started first kick this spring.

I modified my '73 Z1 while in the Army stationed in Mannheim Germany before rear sets, etc. were available back then. The rear sets were modified Triumph or BSA rear sets that were bolted to plates I had welded on the triangle shaped brackets that used to hold the stock mufflers. I had the bike shipped back to the states and rode it from NJ to California in the shape shown in the photo. It was a long 'ol trip with those clip ons and hard seat but I was young back then and didn't give it a thought. Oh to be young again...

Ok, here is my KZ, as in '83 550.
I bought this two years ago with 390 miles!!!
It now has 832 miles.

Stock tires and even the break-in decal is on the gauges too!

No offense to the KZ650's but my '81 KZ would always whoop a KZ650 in a drag race.
All cool old bikes...

This was my first bike, '82 KZ440 LTD, it had over 80 000 km, needed a new clutch and the carbs needed a rebuild, and that was just to get her running, even after that she was still was a slow, over weight, gas sucking pig of a bike, but she was MY slow ass, over the hill, over weight gas sucking pig. Even knocked out some sport bike guy's teeth for making fun of her...
